Introduction
Traditional classroom learning, basically speaking, requires only that the student show up, take notes, study and pass exams. In more active classes, instructors require collaboration among students and maybe a few group projects. But as adults, many of us have not been able to participate in traditional classroom instruction due to a number of barriers:

  • family issues
  • time constraints
  • geographic limitations

Online distance learning breaks those barriers by allowing us to access professional development courses at a time convenient for us. It's an alternative to traditional classroom learning, but requires a whole new set of skills. The purpose of this orientation course is to provide you with resources so you can acquire those skills and be a successful online learner.

Before we begin, we want to make sure that you are comfortable navigating through webpages. If you're new to computers and online learning, you may want to click on the link below to navigate through a short tutorial on Understanding Browsing the Internet.
